Politics is a show where individuals with the biggest (paid) amount of followers decide how the whole nation lives, pays and dies. Those days are far behind when you had to have an education and brain to represent people. No one bears responsibility, you mess up and just shrug it off, shit happens, maybe lie that you're sorry like all the celebrities do when they manage to anger a particular minority. Lying and twisting words or speaking downright nonsense are considered tools of the trade for a prominent politician. Trump can talk about grabbing pussies and beautiful little girls while lying he's done something relevant, i.e. starting and ending wars for the umpteenth time, but no one makes him answer for his impotence. He's a war criminal just like Putin, and even more senile.
And how about sports? Enjoy following drugged up guys kicking, tossing or hitting some kind of a ball while making millions? Most of them use performance enhancing crap and they all know how to smile while lying that they don't. When they get caught they call it a time for self-reflection and take a "break" before returning to compete after their 2:00 minutes on the bench. Sometimes this makes them quit their career but people seem to instantly forget that their local hero is an unreliable lying sack of meat full of steroids.
Media teaches us to show others only the good bits of our life, only the smiles, accomplishments and wonderful things that we do in order to show it to them, not for ourselves, but for others to see how well we are doing. It would be insane to post a picture of yourself without make up or heavy editing, unless that's how you fish for likes this time. That's the american rot which has been seeping in Europe faster and faster ever since we plugged the continents together with internet. Smile, never say how you truly feel, and fake it 'till you make it.
We've gone soft. Rules don't apply to us and we like to blame others, anyone, for all our shortcomings. And oh boy how far we can go with it, with the self-deception, slithering in front of the truth like worms with no backbone. Have you ever raised your hand to admit a fault? We all should start with that and then expand the notion to demand same from our peers.
