Meme and a chain

It's our God given right, a huge deal in this modern world, like another world on top of the boring real world - internet. That's where the fun is, that's where our brain goes brrrr unlike in real world where we do taxes, study, go to work and eat, in whatever order we desire. Internet was supposed to make everything so freaking virtual that ordinary life goes out of fashion. And it did, just for all the wrong reasons.

And we carry this better world in our pockets. 

I was one of them who didn't originally want a smartphone. I didn't want to use every service with one device and be forced to carry it eternally with me. It's a ball and a chain disguised as memes. We thought it would be a nice thing to be connected to the world but instead we're now available for 24/7, waiting for notifications.

I miss being unavailable. There was a time when people didn't get pissed because you didn't answer in 5 minutes. In fact you didn't have to answer at all if you didn't feel like it. And we didn't hate each other, we just didn't have the need to breath the same virtual air all the time. People were less stressed and fight each other days on end because their opinions differed. Yes, there used to be real opinions and conversations between people. Now you're openly hated if you don't follow the herd. 

You check your phone while walking, while sitting in a buss or in a bathroom, while you eat or wait for something, when you're together with your friends, when you're bored and when you should be doing something else. We look into the void and the void tickles our dopamine receptors, and for a microsecond we think we are happy. Then we look again.

It's not a coincidence. These electric slavers are designed to do that just as the web pages are designed to pull in a crowd and make it argue. We love to hate because there's no consequences, thinking we are winning when it takes someone over a minute to answer our insults, preparing at the same time for our next very important statement, ad infinitum.

We carry this world in our pockets so we can hate wherever. Oh, we send silly memes too, guess that more than makes up for it.
